Hi there! I’m Keiko. I’m glad you’re here. Let’s get you up to speed, shall we?
My Family-Building Story
I started this blog in 2009 when I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at the age of 26, just a year after I got married. After a four-year infertility journey, I successfully underwent IVF with the help of a known egg donor in 2012. In May 2013, I gave birth to a son six weeks early. After an entirely-too-long NICU stay after my son developed a scary infection, we came home and began our new life as a family of three. (Our son fully recovered and is a spunky, healthy kid who is obsessed with Star Wars and Kidz Bop.)
A Little More About Me
After working for seven years in higher education, I left my cushy office job for the freelance digital content creation, social media marketing, and website design life. After my son was born, I wrote for Disney Baby until he turned 2. In 2015, I began writing for Romper, a nascent millennial parenting website, as one of its first News Writers. I 2017, I joined Red Tricycle, a lifestyle and parenting digital publisher, as Content Marketing Editor and Copywriter.
So, What About the Blog?
I have stopped actively blogging in this space, as much as it pains me to say. Between working from home, wrangling my son, and trying to have a social life, I have not made the time for this blog as much as I used to. I did, for a brief period, welcome a team of volunteer contributors, however, I am no longer managing that team and am not accepting guest posts at this time.
Even though I don’t blog much anymore, I wrote here for five years and have accumulated a LOT of helpful resources. I hope you’ll stick (and click) around, finding something useful, helpful, or supportive in your journey, wherever you are.
