It was a longer trek than I thought from the Senate building to the Metro station and I was thankful that the weather had held up so beautifully. The sun was shining, the breeze tempering just the right amount of chill to dry the tiny beads of sweat forming along my eyebrows as … Read More »
Defeat Personhood
"Personhood" is a term that describes a legal and legislative agenda led by the anti-choice movement in an effort to end abortion by assigning the rights of personhood status to human embryos and fertilized eggs.
However, by defining life at conception or fertilization, personhood threatens the practice of IVF, thus affecting any person who needs medical intervention — infertile, LGBT, and/or single — to become a parent.
Personhood legislation is harmful to the infertility community. I oppose any and all personhood legislation and actively advocate against it. I post news, updates, and community mobilization efforts in support of this belief.
I support similar personhood opposition position statements made by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists(ACOG) and RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association. You are more than welcome here if you are pro-personhood and/or anti-choice and you must respect that we will have to agree to disagree.
Read more about this scientifically inaccurate, intentionally misleading, and medically unsound movement—and what you can do to protect IVF access for all by opposing personhood legislation.

A Look Back at 2011: The Year of the Zoll
Chinese astrology dictates that 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit. Team Zoll, that is, Larry and I, heartily disagree. 2011 was the Year of the Zoll, you see. No, really: We started noticing this shortly after the New Year this year as we wrote the date. 2011, when written, … Read More »

The vote on Mississippi Initiative 26 happens tomorrow. I have already written about what this means for infertility patients. But I need to talk about what this means for women. It's not just about outlawing abortion. MS 26 outlaws women in Mississippi from making informed … Read More »
