We interrupt this infertility blog for my first-ever BlogHer Reviewer sponsored post.
I’m excited to have the chance to actually share a paid review with y’all. So very quickly, yes – I’m being compensated for this post but the opinions are my own. Promise! So let’s get right to it, shall we?
I have a confession to make: I love bath and body products.
It’s probably one of the girliest things about me. I have been known to have no less than 5 different body washes sitting in the shower at once. Right now, there are even 3 shampoos and 1 conditioner. I’ve lost count of the number of hotel shampoos and soaps I’ve collected over the years. And it’s not like I’m compulsive about showering or anything – I like having an array of options when I get in the shower, because shower time is Me Time.
In fact, a lot of the blog posts you see here? Many of them are brought to you by Me Time in the shower, as I stand under the water, contemplative and cerebrally verbose.
Okay, another confession: I’m a little neurotic about having great skin. I consider wrinkles and dry skin my arch nemeses. I’ve been lucky to have super smooth skin my whole life and I can be a bit of discerning shower-er when it comes to my body washes and lotions.
For the past week and a half, I’ve been using Dove® VisibleCare™ Renewing Crème Body Wash:
Even after the very first time I used it a few weeks ago, I could feel the difference immediately. I struggle with dry skin year round, despite its otherwise smoothness, mostly because I’m in a perpetual state of dehydration… I just don’t drink enough fluids during the day. I lotion like a beast. After using the Renewing Crème Body Wash, my skin was softer, smoother – not a dry patch to be found. It’s so rich and creamy that I didn’t need to lotion up after my shower.
And after a recent sunburn, Dove’s body wash was a life saver. Not a peely patch to be found. And then I took it a step further and used it on my face. Amazingly, it didn’t dry out my face at all. But I’m kind of a traditionalist when it comes to body washes: they’re meant for the neck down. Still, it was a great way for me to see just how creamy and moisturizing it was without destroying my very sensitive facial skin.
It’s a surprisingly luxurious body wash that makes for a really pleasant bath experience. And my skin has looked and felt fantastic as a result. Which, yanno, makes me feel fantastic as a result.
Right now, I’m kind of focused on the little things that make me happy. Shower time is definitely one of those little things that make me happy and I’ve really been loving Dove’s VisibleCare™ Renewing Crème Body Wash. It’s got my bath time stamp of approval.
I cannot wait to use it in the winter.
I know I can’t be the only one who obsesses likes a little me time in the shower… which bath and body products are your favorites? What are your skin care routines? Let’s get girly and dish in the comments 😉

I love Ahava Hibiscus and Fig creme wash. I would have never purchased it, but received a bottle as a free bonus from Ulta and I am in love. Very pricey ($26), but the smell is delightful and not overwhelming. Plus, I used to get those little pimply dry bumps on the backs of my upper arms. Totally gone! Sorry to hijack your Dove post to brag on another product, but I couldn’t help myself to share.

I”m a Bert’s Bee’s lover. I use their body wash all the time. I’m also of the wash the hair first and then wash everything else with my face being last. I also suffer from dry skin and use Eucerin lotion like it’s going out of style.

Toro is a STAH! Who’s his representation?
Loved this post. I love Kiehls products mostly, but I always use Dove soap.

Ok, so I’m glad you commented and brought up other brands – b/c I wasn’t allowed to do that in my post – but in my comments, here we go! 🙂
I’m pretty much a drugstore makeup & bath product girl. Right now I’m using Garnier as my facewash – the green tube that’s ultra-moisturizing. It’s pricey, but I love it and it’s the only one that doesn’t really dry out my skin to high hell and back. I keep an orange tube of this Neutrogena zit gel that is seriously like an atomic bomb for your face. It’s like laser precision zit targeting for emergencies only.
I just recently started using Simple (I think that’s the brand name – they’re UK-based) for makeup removal wipes and facial lotion. Got them as a Klout Perk and I love them both. I pretty much only use that in the winter.
I’m a sucker for anything from Bath & Body Works. I’ve been milking a bottle of Lemongrass Cardamom body wash that I bought over 3 years ago. I’m 99% sure they don’t make it anymore and I have like, a quarter cup of it left. This Dove review was a lifesaver if only to prolong the B&BW body wash I have left 🙂 And I have two random brands my mom had gotten me a while ago from her drugstore – one’s Honey and the other is Fig & Lavender. They both dry out my skin, so I have to keep switching it up in the shower (again, why I’ve been loving the Dove so much).

Congrats on your first BlogHer paid review! Fun that we both got to do this one, but try different variants. I am curious to try the other two, after trying the softening one, which I really like.
I can relate to musing in the shower and often coming up with blog post ideas. That is where I conceived Time Warp Tuesdays actually! I have ironicly been working on a blog post about this, which I will share soon.
I really enjoyed reading your review. Great job Keiko!
As for my skin care routines, not that long ago I learned that it’s better to wash our faces last, instead of first when we shower, which I had done most of my life. This is apparently so the oils from our hair care products don’t stay on our faces. So that’s my two cents on routines.
Keiko says
I do the top to bottom routine in the shower: shampoo, sometimes conditioner, then body wash. I’ve also heard to shampoo/condition first, then body wash simply to get any and all oils off your back last, especially if you’re prone to body acne. And of course, face wash last. I’m really digging the renewing – for as dehydrated as I am at any given time, my skin hasn’t looked dry at all since I started using it.
Someone on Twitter also fessed up about what she’s using her Dove body wash for (@meiermadness) – she’s using it as shaving cream! Um – genius. If I hadn’t shaved just last weekend, I would totally try that now. Which, TMI time – I can go at least 3 weeks before I ever need to shave my legs again.

wow, congrats on the review!
Honestly: I have no skin care routines. I take horrible care of my skin. So I could probably use some pointers! 😉
