A quick post today with some updates on what’s new and groovy in my life.
- I’m recovering well from post-op. Cramping has basically all but gone away (and it was pretty mild to begin with) and now just some very faint bleeding; it could be withdrawal bleeding triggered by the surgery.
- It’s Keiko’s sexy TMI time! Can’t have sex until Thursday. Probably should have better prepared for this because we didn’t um, satiate ourselves before I had surgery last week so I’m running up against nearly a 3-week dry spell. No magic will be happening until I’m done bleeding, either. Have I been on edge lately? A bit.
- I’m nesting… BAD. Apparently once they removed that uterine septum to make it nice and roomy for a future child(ren – because let’s be honest: twins are a scary possibility) I want to fill that space with decorations for my home. Specifically linens. I’m mad for new bed and bath linens right now. G-d help me if you dropped me off at IKEA right now? I’d max out our savings right now. Seriously, my surgery triggered a nesting instinct like whoa.
- Game of Thrones: I’m finally on board. I get it, I get the hype now. Larry explained the first season and the first half of this season to me with the help of 2 recap videos last night, and as someone who’s a devotee of Skyrim and still refuses to continue the main quest to end game – I don’t know why I haven’t been watching this for months now. It’s like, an epic fantasy orgy of awesome (quite literally, actually).
- I have a weird crush on Benedict Cumberbatch. The BBC reboot of Sherlock Holmes is amazing. We’ve been watching it non-stop for the last couple of weeks. On one hand, Benedict Cumberbatch (playing the titular character) is kind of weird-looking. Like, if I passed him on the street, I don’t think I’d pay him much mind. But his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes? HOTT. That’s right, with two T’s. There’s just something about his mannerisms, speech and affectations that make his brainpower incredibly sexy.
- Mad Men is the best show on TV right now. There, I said it. This season has been incredible. Am I biased because it’s understood in our house that John Hamm is my freebie? Totally. But seriously – everything about this season, from Don’s new marriage to even Betty’s seeming maturity to Peggy climbing as hard as she can to the top – oh, and don’t get me started about the new post LDS Roger – he just might be my new favorite character on this show – it’s just so good. I can’t wait to watch it each weekend.
We’re going to Turks & Caicos in July! My in-laws are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary in the Turks and Caicos and have invited Larry and I along for the fun. This is huge for several reasons. 1) I have always dreamed of visiting Caicos, the island that is a homonym of my own name. 2) I’m buying a Universal Life Church credential so I can “marry” them again and renew their vows for them 🙂 Also? It’s the Caribbean. I fucking love the Caribbean.Bummer. Trip canceled b/c we need the money to make babies.- I’m building my first online workshop for The Infertility Voice. It’ll be an 8-week online course that I’m getting really excited to announce soon. It’s going to be really neat: discussions, journals, videos – it’s going to have the works and I think will open up a whole new avenue of support and empowerment in the infertility community. Stay tuned for updates!
- I hope to G-d we don’t have a hornets’ nest in our house. I killed one yesterday in our bedroom, after great trepidation and full-on panic attack. There was another one in our skylight on the top floor a couple of weeks ago. Now, I know our house is hella old, but they shouldn’t be getting in like this. Because I swear, if there’s a hornet’s nest somewhere INSIDE my house? I’ll be staying at a hotel until it’s gone. I cannot even put into words how much hornets and wasps terrify me.
- Chocolate and cheese. If I could eat these exclusively as my diet? I totally would. #TRUTH
- Would you like to take a survey? I want to make this website and blog as awesome as possible. I need your help to do that 🙂 Tell me how it’s been working for you so far and you could win a coaching session with me and more! Click here for the quick 10-minute survey.
- I turn 30 in 10 days. Hubby’s already booked our reservation at Craigie on Main for the evening, at the Chef’s Counter. I cannot wait for this dinner. My birthday wish list is kind of lame (jeans, linens, a natal chart reading) but there’s one thing that always remains constant: takin’ me out to a fancy effin’ dinner. Because if there’s one thing I love, it’s fancy effin’ dinners.
That’s pretty much it up in my world. What’s new with you?

HUGE Sherlock fan here as well. : ) (How long do we have to wait to see another few episodes??) He’s certainly not conventionally handsome, but man, those eyes…
Glad you are recovering well, post-surgery!

Btw for the Cumberbatch fans – the plan Esperanza mentioned, Frankenstein, was filmed in HD for the National Theatre in London’s direct-to-movie-theatres thing. I saw it last year with Cumberbatch as the Creature and Jonny Lee Miller as Dr. Frankenstein, but since the two actors traded places every night, they filmed and broadcast both. Apparently they’re still showing it periodically and you can look for a local theatre here: http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/61172/venues-amp-booking/us-venues.html
Game of Thrones is awesome. The books (in particular 1-3) are great, and HBO is doing a fine job of adapting them to the screen. @Tisha – he’s only writing one episode a season, so it’s more his other book projects that take him away from writing book 6, I think. 🙂
Glad the recovery has been easy!

Chocolate and cheese? Good food and good medicine. Can’t go wrong. Hope you feel better soon 🙂

Glad that you’re healing well, and all the upcoming plans sound awesome!
I refuse to watch Game of Thrones–I’m still pissed at the author for making the jump to TV before he even finished writing the series. It already took a long time between book releases; now that he’s working on the HBO stuff it will take even longer!

So glad to hear that the healing is going well and about the trip! How awesome is that?!? Enjoy!
I also just jumped on the Game of Thrones train after much protest. I didn’t want to have anything to do with it, at all. But everyone around me was telling me to give it a try. We’re now flying through the first season. Mad Men has been on my list of shows to watch soon for awhile now. It’s my goal to start it by the end of the summer.
And I’ll jump over right now to do that survey!

I have like a billion things to say in response to this post. I wish we could just sit down and have coffee. I’m glad your sold on GoT. It’s awesome. And it makes perfect sense to me that you’d love it. I also adore Sherlock, and find the main character intriguing to say the least. My husband sent me this snippet about him from the AV Club, which we still quote because it’s so priceless:
After all, Miller recently starred in Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein in London’s West End, where he shared the stage with one Benedict Cumberbatch who, in addition to being a shy hedgehog who stumbled into a grand adventure outside his garden one day, also stars in the BBC’s Sherlock.
I am also enjoying Mad Med this year though it depresses the hell out of me. What would you say if I told you I’d met John Hamm? Because I have. 😉
So jealous of your trip to T&C! Have a blast!

Feel better!!! I had a nasty nesty spell after I was bedridden after uterine surgery as well. Something about laying about in bed most of the day made me want to make that bed a pretty and comfy place. I hope your uterus AND your bedroom are beautiful and baby ready 🙂

I’m glad the cramping is going away! Huzzah!!
