It’s Monday. Back to the grindstone.
We could all benefit from a little start of the week motivation, no?
So… what keeps you going in your infertility journeys? What gives you hope? What drives your purpose? What keeps you going?
For me:
- My amazing husband
- Knowing my amazing husband is going to be a kickass dad one day
- My compassionate, generous family
- Knowing my parents & sister will be kickass grandparents & aunt one day
- My niece
- Knowing my niece will be a kickass cousin one day
- The infertility community
- Knowing y’all damn well better throw me a Macy’s Day Parade when I get knocked up
🙂
In all seriousness, what motivates you in your infertility journey?
This is one of my favorite quotes that keeps me going in virtually any situation:
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.”
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Share your sagely advice in the comments so we can all be inspired today!

That’s exactly what keeps me going. The longing for the ‘endless immensity of the sea’. Before I had children I knew that I wanted them. Now that I have them, I never want the days when I have them to end. Wanting another child means wanting it all…the crying baby and dirty diapers, the toddler tantrums, and all the years I haven’t experienced yet. I keep going for that immense and glorious sea 🙂

What keeps me going, more than anything, is that from my work in childcare and as a birth and postpartum doula, I *know* (as much as anyone who is not yet a parent can know) exactly what I am missing, and what I am working towards.

What keeps me going?
Knowing that my husband is with me every step of the way on this icky infertility journey.
After eight years of dealing with IF my mom is finally starting to ‘get it’.
Knowing that there is an entire online community that embraces my frustration, anger and grief about being an infertile woman.

Well said Keiko! My husband and family top my list too, followed by good friends who are willing to walk beside us. Then the hope that we will some day hold our baby!
