Larry and I just keep getting more and more excited the more we think about adopting. In fact, we’re downright giddy. We are also c l u e l e s s. Right now we’re reading the two books below- Larry’s reading the first one, I’m reading the second one. We’ll swap when we’re done.
I’m enjoying the Idiot’s Guide; it’s a great overview. But I am always desperate for more material. I’ve been trolling the Adoption Blogroll over at Stirrup Queens, but I’m looking to connect with other bloggers who are in the initial, pre-home study stages of their adoption process or at the very least, those who have not yet been matched or finalized.
So I’m putting the call out there, because I trust this community more than I trust Google:
What adoption blogs should I be reading and following?
Also what websites, books, videos, YouTube channels, etc. should I be looking out for?
Which resources should I stay away from?
Thank you in advance, oh wonderful and resourceful and connected ALI community!

Although we're not in the process at this point (short of waiting to find out if one of our daughter's birth relatives might be placed with us), I write quite a bit about our experiences as parents raising children in open adoption if you'd like to swing by and check it out. Wishing you well on this journey.
Here from ICLW, and will be following you!

My husband and I are just BARELY beginning the process of domestic adoption. I haven't blogged about it too much as of yet because we're waiting to send in our facilitation agency contract. Once we get going, however, I think I'll be talking about it quite a bit more.
Good luck to you in your journey! 🙂

And check out my adoption blogroll. A lot of great adoption blogs and people who blog on domestic and international adoptions.
I look forward to following your blog. 😀

Let's talk offline (I think I've only ever used that phrase metaphorically before, in meetings!) about this. There are lots of adoptive and foster families in my congregation. I can put you in touch with some of the parents.

My husband and I adopted this year and it has been amazing. We are an interfaith family (he is Jewish, I am not) and used Luteran Social Services for our adoption and our social worker is Jewish. All of that so say, don't worry about agencies too much! We adopted from foster care but have never been foster parents. We opted to adopt an older child. There are SO VERY MANY out there that need parents. It didn't cost us a penny! I will be glad to answer any questions that you may have! It's an exciting time!

Well, we're slightly ahead of you (waiting for our dossier to be translated) but happy to help out where I can. I've been reading quite a bit of helpful stories but….are you going domestic or international? That changes things quite a bit….
Best of luck! Doesn't it feel good once the decision is made! 🙂

My husband and I have been looking at adopting for some time and one of my favorites is the R House (I think it is therhouse.blogspot). She is an awesome writer and has a lot of guest bloggers who talk about open adoption.

I can't say that my blog is "adoptiong" related, but out PS-MAPP classes start in a few months here in Iowa and I will be blogging about everything we learn and discover in that process…don't know if it would be helpful but you are welcome to check it out!
